Our Courses

Great Courses

The 2025-2026 school year starts on 9/7/2025. Most of our classes are in-person, held at Garnet Valley Middle School building on Sundays, serving students from neighboring areas such as Garnet Valley, Wilmington, Chadds Ford, Media, West Chester, and beyond. Our in-person classes include Chinese, Math, Robotics, Art, Music, Boartgame, Sports, and more. The classes are designed to be fun and interactive, ensuring an engaging learning experience.

We also offer some classes online, including advanced math courses such as AMC 10 and SAT math, English Reading and Writing, Public Speaking, and more. These online classes are schedules on on different days from Sunday afternoon to accommodate more students.

We also have classes for adults and clubs, such as dance, art, and sports. For parents interested in joining any of the lessons, it's a wonderful opportunity to learn somthing new while fostering a sense of community.

Chinese

We offer both Chinese as Heritage Language (CHL) classes and Chinese as Second Language (CSL) classes. For CHL classes, which range from Kindergarten to grade 8 (including AP Chinese), we use Ma Liping Chinese (马力平中文), and Meizhou Huayu (美洲华语) textbooks. For CSL classes, we have previously used Go! Chinese textbooks in the past, but we are open to other options too, should parents have other preferences.

Math

We offer classes including Singapore Math Level 1, 2 and 3, Pre-MathCounts 1, Pre-MathCounts 2, MathCounts 1, Mathcounts 2 (AMC 8), AMC 10 and SAT math. These courses accommodate students from K-12, providing opportunities to advance beyond their current grade level and prepare for math competitions if they choose to participate.

English Reading & Writing

Since our school was founded, we have been dedicated to finding the best and most experienced English reading and writing teachers. Our faculty includes highly qualified educators with advanced degrees from prestigious universities and extensive tutoring experience. Many of our teachers have a proven track record of helping students achieve significant academic success, including winning prestigious awards. Additionally, our team includes graduates from top institutions who are accomplished writers and published authors, ensuring that our students receive top-tier instruction in reading and writing.

Chess

Our chess club is led by passionate high school students with years of chess-playing experience. These leaders have participated in numerous matches and tournaments, achieving impressive ratings. They bring their expertise and enthusiasm to the club, providing a dynamic and engaging environment for members to improve their skills, learn new strategies, and enjoy the game of chess.

Coding

Our coding classes offer instruction in languages such as JavaScript, Python, and Java. Our current coding teacher, Dr. Xu, holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and has years of experience in the IT industry. As a dedicated educator, Dr. Xu is committed to contributing to the community and helping kids learn coding, ensuring that students receive both practical knowledge and a passion for technology.

Lego Robotics

Our LEGO Robotics class is led by Professor Liu from Temple University, Professor Li from the University of Pennsylvania, and Dr. Xu from the IT industry. Together, they have designed a course based on FLL LEGO Robotics that teaches students coding, robotics, and engineering principles. With this exceptional team, we have the strongest teaching faculty in the region. Our classes tap into children's natural curiosity and interest in robotics, guiding them through foundational engineering concepts. During the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 seasons, students from the first DCCS LEGO Robotics class won multiple awards at both the state and international levels.

Drawing

In our drawing classes, our experienced art teacher, Zifeng Zang, guides students to explore basic drawing principles such as line, color, and texture and develop painting techniques using various media. Zifeng Zang is a renowned artist and a professor at West Chester University with years of teaching experience. Her classes are fun and exciting for kids, fostering creativity and artistic growth in an engaging and supportive environment.

Dancing

Our dance classes offer instruction in Chinese Folk Dance and Contemporary Dance, with separate classes available for kids and adults. We also feature Zumba classes. Students gain valuable performing experience through participation in weekly classes and special events that provide opportunities to perform on stage. These events allow students to showcase their skills and enjoy the excitement of live performances in a vibrant and supportive environment.

Public Speaking

Public speaking classes are led by Mike Nie, founder of Speak to Lead LLC. Coach Nie is an award-winning public speaker and a distinguished Toastmaster with years of experience in teaching public speaking. In each session, students learn speaking techniques through the analysis of famous speeches. Following each lesson, students are assigned a 2-3 minute speech as homework, which is presented during class. Coach Nie provides individualized feedback on each speech, both offline and in class, to help students refine their skills.
